This list features all freeweight bars that use olympic sized weights, whether straight bars or specialty shapes.
Not included here are stores that don’t really have an online store and require you to contact for a quote, which discourages small orders from individuals. Some of those brands can be bought at the stores below as noted.
Also not included are stores with only a couple bars that are the same as you can get elsewhere with a better selection. Many of them are made by the same fabricator as other stores. So we are trying to mainly feature stores that are serious about selling USA-made bars.
As with all of our articles, we’re going by the FTC regulatory definition of “made in USA”, where all significant parts of the product are of US origin and all significant processing is done in the US.

Rogue Fitness
Rogue is a leader in the functional training / Crossfit equipment industry. They have built a reputation based on outstanding customer service, leading-edge high-quality products, sponsoring the Crossfit Games and being active in the fitness community. They have a 600,000 sqft manufacturing plant in Columbus, OH.
All of the Rogue branded bars and specialty bars are made in the US. A few other brands of brands are listed in their “Made in the USA” category, but the manufacturer websites do not indicate that.

American Barbell
American Barbell pioneered the first hard chrome plating and Cerakote coating on barbells. Their bars are known for their tightly spaced knurl and signature (and cool looking) welding at the ends of the shaft.
Their straight steel bars are all made in the US. Their specialty bars such as the safety squat bar, aluminum technique bar, etc, are all made elsewhere. Look for the “Made in USA” note in each product description or specs.

Founded in 1998 to provide articles and seminars for athletes, and later expanding into selling equipment.

Iron Company
Established in 1997 as one of the very first online fitness equipment stores that is still running today. Impressive feat!
They have a dedicated category featuring all USA-made bars, including a complete assortment of Iron Company branded bars and some others by Body Solid, Iron Grip, Ivanko Barbell, and Legend Fitness.
Texas Power Bars
Also known as Capps Welding. They have been making the Texas Power Bar and other Texas bars at their shop in Irving, TX since 1980.
All their bars are made in the US and are known for having some of the most aggressive knurling of all powerlifting bars out there.

Sorinex
A family owned business founded in 1980.
Just the few Sorinex branded bars are made in the US. The others are made elsewhere. Look for the “100% Made in USA” note at the bottom of each product description.
Black Widow Training Gear
Black Widow Training Gear is a small company that started in 2009 by a welder who was known for custom making all kinds of specialty bars and other equipment for people. They now offer a standard selection of equipment based on their custom designs which have been perfected with the help of a supportive strength training community.
